comedy moderate muslims?

Intermission! I’ve been busy away from posting entries lately. I’ve been working a lot, going downtown and making my Irish ancestors proud. I’ve also been working on a few blog entries but never getting far enough with them to want to post them.

Conservative tshirt ideas, coming to a counter-protest near you!

Just today I was talking with a friend of mine from out of state online and I thought of a load of new ideas for some tshirts and bumper stickers. I sent a few of my ideas of Metrospy.com and I’ll see if they run with them. I’ve bought many things from Metrospy before, I love those guys. Them, ProtestWarrior.com and ThoseShirts.com are all great folks. I’ve bought a few tshirts and things from Metrospy (Peace through superior firepower, Boycott France sticker, a Metrospy Conservative Values sticker and armbands, and a U.N.American sticker).

“Moderate muslims” still elusive outside of the West

I’ve been reading stuff on many of the blogs, website and tv shows, and as expected the “moderate muslim” is nowhere to be found outside of the West. I’m sure there are some moderate muslims who denounce what their leaders are doing, but none of them seem to be brave enough to speak in more than hushed tones. Little Green Footballs has countless stories since the 7/7 and later islamic attacks in London, showing that mainstream muslim society not only ignores islamic reformation but is outright pushing for MORE attacks in the West. Somehow there are even muslim religious leaders in America, and Falls Church, Virginia (which is the epicenter of religious and governmental lunacy in the whole state of Virginia.) are calling for more attacks.

On CAFTA, the Central American Free Trade Agreement

With the razor thin approval of the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA, for those who want to check your favorite net search engine), I’ve been reading stuff on the left and the right bashing and promoting it.

Generally I am for free trade, as long as the people who purchase the items can learn about how the stuff was made. If something is made in a “sweatshop” or with underage labor, it should be noted, so the market can decide if that item should thrive or something better go in it’s place. Just as how some environmentalists complained about Flipper the dolphin getting stuck in tuna fish nets (Dolphin meat probally doesn’t taste as good as tuna, so I want my fish nets dolphin free.), and they started the whole “Dolphin free tuna” stickers on cans of Starfish and Chicken of the Sea canned tuna.

Free Trade is the only thing that will fix the hellholes of Mexico, and points south, including Cuba. Enabling and supporting dictatorships, may have looked useful in the past, they don’t work in the long term. If we can trade with Mexico, while upping our border security, Mexicans will be able to make a decent living in their own country, instead of risking death and paying coyotes to shuttle them into America. Let’s kill two birds with one stone.

The Federal government has kept an embargo on Cuba for at least 40 years, hoping to starve the beast known as Fidel Castro. It has worked wonders, considering that Cuba is a democratic republic with no human rights offenses to speak off. The best way to bring Cuba into the 21st century would be to open up trade with them, and the next day, do airdrops of hard liquor, skin magazines, and cable tv. This is also my technique on how I would democratise the Middle East. A few thousand packages of our Jack Daniel rejects, some old 1970’s skin magazines and Comedy Central would do wonders to take Islamic society out of the 7th century.

The Unions and the dissolution of the AFL-CIO

Right now the Labor Unions are having troubles of their own, a mutineering chunk of their membership is leaving, and Sweeney and others in the AFL-CIO are crying. The seceeding group just wants to be even farther left-wing than the AFL-CIO. The Union should let them go off on their way, then the Union can do what it does best, deal with worker issues instead of giving money to a political party that treats them as a “given” on Election Day just as how they treat the black population.

As I wrote in a previous post, I like the Labor Unions, they have done many good things during the turn of the 20th century and into the 1950’s and 60’s but since then they have seriously lost their way. Here’s a little bit of advice for them. But most likely anyone from the AFL-CIO will see my heading picture and ignore me anyway.

If the Unions want to have any kind of political power, in the face of declining membership numbers they need to first of all, stop bending over backwards for the Democrats. The Democrat Party treats Unionised Labor as a red headed stepchild because they expect y’all to blindly vote as a block. Just as how the Dems expect black people to do the same. If the Unions want to be respected, they must break the ties they have to the Democrat Party. They have to be apolitical, since neither the Republicans nor the Democrats have their interests in mind.

The Democrat Party has done nothing major in recent years to help promote unions. Your great savior, Bill Clinton (He was the first black president, you know.) signed the North American Free Trade Agreement, which helped kill off many union contracts. He also raised taxes during his term, which also killed off some economic development. The best way for the unions to stop the bleeding, or at least tread water is to prove to the market that they are a better deal than non-union labor. You do that through better training, more reliable workers and better safety records. The job you have today is not yours. It is your boss’s job, or the company’s job. The days of heavy machinery and heavy industry are gone in America. I don’t know why but some people think those were the “good old days”, now with machinery, robotics and other labor saving equipment we can do more with lower costs, which ultimately drives DOWN the price of goods, and people who couldn’t afford an item 10 years ago, can easily afford it now.

Some in the labor union movement complain about supply side tax cuts, and say they don’t work. Doing the opposite like raising taxes, and redistributing wealth to those who don’t make it, sure hasn’t worked anytime it has been tried, look at the failed War on Poverty from LBJ’s Great Society. Billions and trillions of money given away from the rich to the poor, and the poor are still poor. Handouts aren’t the solution, better money management is the answer.

(July 31st Update)

I have some good news from Metrospy. I gave them three of my ideas for new items, one of the guys liked the idea so he’s gonna give it a spin next week, I’ll know more in the coming days and if it’s an accepted tshirt in production, I’ll put it up here, and I’ll happily parade it around Richmond.
